<question>I've seen the phrase "open pollinated" on some of my seed packets but I have no idea what it means. Most of the links I found were just confusing, like this one <a href="http://www.southernexposure.com/open_pollination.p.html">http://www.southernexposure.com/open_pollination.p.html</a> talking about the genes and chromosomes and stuff, I just want a layman explanation if anyone has one. Thanks a lot.</question>

<question>I'm putting a new vegetable garden in and I was wondering what type of dirt to use. I've heard that plain topsoil is fine but some people seem to say you need vermiculite (I don't think I've ever even seen that at Home Depot) and other things. Any thoughts would be great, thanks.</question>

<question>I want to put in a raised bed vegetable garden but I'm not quite sure where to start. I know there are several kits out there for buying them and it's possible to make your own raised beds. What do you all recommend for someone just trying to get something set up without TOO much cost or time sunk into it.</question>
